The TTFM Chat and The HNFM Chat...

THE TTFM CHAT.

A: Welcome to Monday nights Melbourne's most wanted edition a huge show
Andy Lou filling in for Andy G whose slipped off to Europe
we'll be catching up with him
giving him a phone call during the week
but more importantly our co host for the evening..
It's Christian from Invertigo

C: Hi guys, Hi Andy How are ya?

A: Christian, I'm good you gonna stay with us for the whole show?

C: Well if you'll have me, maybe after an hour
you'll be ready to kick me out so..

A: No way

C: Lets have a bit of a probation period maybe

A: OK. Christian's gonna join us on the show tonight,
also heaps of stuff coming up, Total Recall,
give us a call on 9414 1011 if you want to introduce a songs,
CDs, thats Backstreet Boys contest,
but first let's check out Friday night Top Ten...

*Songs*

A: Melbourne most wanted, Andy Lou
filling in for Andy G but to make up for it our very own special celebrity star,
infact we we've got celebrities all week,
tonight Christian from Invertigo

C: Wow.. I just wanna say I'm very happy
to be here with you tonight

A: I know you are, and you're actually very good
I'm scared that you're probably going to want
to do this everynight with us

C: Well I would like to do it every night
but I don't think you're under any threat of anything
happening but it's actually really cool
cause we've known each other since we were
like teenage kids

A: I'm glad you brought that up,
like I mean we went to the same, we went to different schools

C: We gotta get the story right

A: We went to different clubs didn't we,
now did you entire any of those dodgy talents quests?

C: Of course

A: This is on the Gold Coast guys by the way

C: Yeah

A: We'll tell you a little more about those dogy talents quests
that Christian from Invertigo entered into
while we grew up together on the Gold Coast in just a moment
but that was last night, no Friday nights Number 1 "Shaggy - It Wasn't Me"
you voted for it, vote for your favourite songright now on 9414 1011
call us if you've got a question
for Christian as well but right now back into the countdown

*Songs*

A: Melbourne's most wanted 101.1 TTFM,
it's the B Team filling in for Andy G, we're clearly the B Team,
Andy Lou here with Christian from Invertigo

C: It's so cool to be here I'm telling you,
working with such a pro as yourself, I must admit,
if I sound a little bit nervous on air you'll understand why

A: You have to stop sucking up to me

*Christian Laughs*

A; Just cause we grew up together on the Gold Coast,
now we promised the listeners, and also by the way,
keep your calls coming through on 9414 1011
heaps and heaps of fans apparently are waiting for you downstairs

C: Thats cool

A: So hello to Kylie and everyone that just called through,
she's waiting for you downstairs

C: Great

A: But tell us about the talent quests you were involved in

C: Yeah well, as a kid I really think you're eager
to get out on stage and you know anytime someone
used to say you know "here's a chance to go and sing infront of some people"
I was like "yeah ok" so sometimes
there were some really tacky talents quests
but other times it was really cool
one time when I was about 13 or 14
I was in a talent quest with Peter Andre

A: Well thats the tacky talents quest though
cause he used to impersonate Micheal Jackson

C: Yeah but he was actually really really good
Everyone that we knew said,
you were probably there as well,
we all kinda thought
"yeah he'll be a big star one day"

A: And did they think that about you?
You've suprised them huh

C: I'm stil kinda trying to impress people these days but..

A: Come one you're a big star

C: Nah he was pretty cool but its funny
how you end up all these years later

A: It's Christian from Invertigo here on Melbourne's most wanted
you just heard "Daft Punk" number 29
Write it down for total recall, we've got dollars worth of CDs,
but right now lets get back into the countdown
it's number 28 "Can't fight the moonlight - Leann Rimes" TTFM

*Songs*

A: That was "Dream" with "He Loves You Not" at number 27
on Melbourne most wanted with the
30 hottest tracks in town that you voted for
"He Loves You Not" Did you ever play that game
"He loves me, he loves me not"?

C: No.. I played "she loves me, she loves me not"
I just wanna get that straight

A: Of course you did I knew that

C: Andy, lets not start any unnessecary kinda goss here

A: Cuase I mean I've played that,
it's Christian from Invertigo guys right here live at TTFM
if you've got a question for Christian call us now on 9414 1011
lets go to the phones Andrew.. do you have a question for Christian?

Andrew: I certainly do Christian, how are you?

C: Good thanks mate how are you?

Andrew: Good thank you, do you see, does the band see themselves
putting on the forth coming single
or a few single down the line,
a great cover you do live "Dream Police"?

C: Thats a good question, at this stage I would imagine not,
not that we don't sorta love the song
and everyones seems to really sort of dig the version that we do live
but I really think that at the moment it's important for us
to get as much of our own material out there at the moment
and really make a statement of the stuff that we write
is of the utmost importance as far as releasing stuff,
but who knows one month down the track
or something like that
we could put something out
but I think at this stage we'll stick to our own stuff
but yeah it's a really cool song

A: Here at TTFM we'll let you know whats going on
we'll keep in contact

C: Absoloutly

A: And let everyone know..
Lee you're on the line Leonie

Leonie: Yeah

A: How you going what do you want to ask Christian?

Leonie: I'm just wondering what his first impressions were
of the Leigh Brothers when he met them
and did he think it would be a success?

C: Who? who? oh the Leigh brothers? right yeah ok

*Christian laughs*

Leonie: Who? nice!

C: Look I must admit I was you know, I love the guys
and there was something there from the first moment
so I'm really happy to be working with them

Leonie: Cool

A: Cool yeah! Leonie and the others,
we'll give you a CD for helping us out
and joining us all night is Christian
You gonna stay all night?

C: Well thats up to you

A: Up all night, yeah we want you to be here
Co hosting the show filling in for Andy G
while he's in Europe
Some more questions for Christian

A: It's Andy Lou and Christian from Invertigo live
in the studio here at TTFM co-hosting for the night

C: I was just gonna ask you, you know how the lines are flashing,
I was wondering if you want me to answer a few calls
make some coffee or something like that?

A: Rockstars don't make coffee

C: you sure?

A: No its cool

C: I'm happy to sort of help out

A: I think you're a bit too nice

C: Filing or photo copying or something like that?

A: You're just really a little bit too nice
I saw your 'Chances Are' video clip and you look wat too cool to be doing filing

C: Oh ok.. cool

A: Now we're going to be playing 'Chances Are' very soon
but lets get back into the countdown

C: Really? You got that kinda of breathing kind thing like Andy does

A: I know

C: 9414 1011

A: I'm turning into him,
we're both turning into Andy G
whats going on?! We must miss him huh?

C: Yeah.. I miss the guy I miss the big fella

A: We're gonna get him to call through as well during the week

C: Great!

A: To tell us how it is in the Igloo
he's staying in an Ice Hotel

C: I thought he was pulling my leg with that one
but apparently it's true

A: I know! And stacks of phonecalls as well
going to the phones right now.. got a question Sue?

Sue: Yes, I was at Moonee Valley Saturday night

A: Oh good

Sue: It was live

A: And you saw the boys perform

Sue: oh yeah

A: What did you want to say to Christian?

Sue: You're all awesome

C: Oh wow

A: I thought she was gonna say you're all awful

C: I heard a bit of a pause there before
your comment and I'm sorta.."ohh" better get ready for this,
no thats really lovely of you Sue thank you

A: Sue is that the first time you saw the boys live?

Sue: Yeah I have,
yeah and they were playing down at the Growling Dog on Ringwood
and I come from that place but um, from that area

A: so you went to both gigs?

Sue: Well I wanted to but I'm a single parent
my two girlfriends went

C: Thats no excuse Sue!

A: Well maybe you can ask Christian out on a date

Sue: Love to!

A: And thats good for all the Ringwood fans out there
now email him Sue on the website
www.invertigo.com.au and also while you're on the net go to the TTFM one
www.ttfm.com.au for that Backstreet Boys competition
just click on the Backstreet Boys faces
and enter as many times as you like to score yourself that huge tribute plaque,
it's autographed and we're giving it away this Friday
we'll be back with more Christian goss,
you can go to the toilet now

C: Ah.. thanks

A: We're up right after this on TTFM

*Songs*

A: Melbourne's most wanted TTFM Andy Lou here
with someone very special come on
tell us the name of that song and what number it was
so we can write it down for Total Recall
haha come on it's number 22

C: I'm just getting back from the toilet

A: You know Andy G can sit a whole show
and not even go he's amazing

C: Yeah well I'm sure we really don't need to hear
about that at the moment but anyway

A: Anyway we'll finish that off
number 22 "Don't Think I'm Not" and we were talking before
Christian here from Invertigo we were talking before
about what makes artists attractive
off the air and we were saying a friend of ours
has a certian naiveity that makes him attractive
I gotta tell you I watched 'Chances Are' for the first time
in my PJ's dancing around in the loungeroom
I saw the 'Chances Are' film clip
and one thing I've got to say one thing thats very likeable
about you is how passionate you are

C: What are you talking about?
Yeah, no thats very nice of you to say that
and well I mean I've been lucky enough to be put in a band
with really exceptionatly talented guys
and a lot of my passion comes out through
you know the vibe I get from them
and I've been lucky enough to be given songs
that a lot of people have heard
I mean the first single and with 'Chances Are'
and I'm very passionate about the songs

A: You can so tell

C: Well I'm glad so but thats very nice of you to say

A: This is sincere you know

C: Thank you

A: And you were talking about about the guys
now Vince and James wrote the song
'Chances Are' didn't they?

C: Yep

A: And do they feel just as passionate about their work?

C: I think so yep there's been so many people
that have come up to us and we've been very fortunate
to have all these people come up to us
and kind of say "We'd love to have one of our songs on your album
or you know do you want to do a co-write?"
and all that sort of thing and I think that
, I've encouraged them to say no,
we can stick to our own writing
and you guys are really good writers
lets do our own stuff
and then maybe own day do a duet with Celine Dion or something

A: Oh right, we'll be looking forward to that

C: But no I'm very proud of the stuff we've got
so yeah there's a lot of passion there

A: 'Chances Are' will be played very soon here
on Melbourne's most wanted we've got a power pick coming up

C: Sounds good

A: This is where we get you to call us on 9414 1011
and tell us what you think it's called
"All I Do" by "The Cleptomanics" featuring Bryan Adams
here on Melbourne's most wanted TTFM call us

*Songs*

A: All I can do is think about you

C: Oh yeah

A: Oh yeah that was the power pick
here on Melbourne's most wanted TTFM
"All I Do" by "The Cleptomaniacs" featuring Bryan Adams
Andy Lou here with Christian from Invertigo co-hosting tonight

C: Cleptomaniacs actually sounds like
a bunch of guys I used to hang out with when I was a kid

A: You used to steal?

C: Nah not me

A: Your friends did

C: Yeah

A: And you're not friends with them anymore

C: Absoloutley not

A: Maybe they're talking about stealing your heart

*Christian Laughs*

A: Do you think so?

C: Well look I'm not sure about that Andy but

A: Well that did you think of the song? Why don't you tell me that

C: Are you asking me what I thought of the song?

A: Yeah

C: I didn't actually kinda mind it,
we were sorta chatting about it and
I think you're very perceptive with your musical feedback
about it I thought it was very dancy
and had a bit of a groove I kinda liked it
but it doesn't really matter what I think Andy

A: No but it matters what the listeners think

C: Exactly!

A: Let go to the phones right now

C: I think we've got Graham,
Graham what did you think of that one?

Graham: Yeah I didn't like the song Andy Lou

A: Oh cool what about Christian?

Graham: Oh gday Christian

C: Oh.. yeah thanks How are you mate?

Graham: Aww it was a bit too feminine and dancy for me

C: Yep, fair enough mate you're entitled to your own opinion
Albert what did you think?

Albert: Hello?

C: Hello Albert, what did you think
of that one from "The Cleptomaniacs"?

Albert: Oh.. on it it's a great song

A: Cool

C: Great ok, excellent
Anthony?

Anthony: Yeah I didn't really like it that much

C: Didn't like it oh well

A: Oh well

C: Megan are you there?

Megan: Yeah

C: Well like I said before this time of the show
is when security normally come knocking on the door
and I get pulled out by the collar so really it's your call

A: No we'd like you to stay for the next hour

C: Wow thats quite an introduction
I'm rather privledged to have such an introduction

A: Stacks of stuff coming up on the second hour
of the show including that Backstreet Boys competition,

C: I'd love to give some CDs away

C: No that comes from me
and thats just thinking about Andy G
holidaying in Europe it's pretty good actually

A: I know I think he's going to try
and catch up with Britney Spears too
but that was "Backstreet Boys - The Call"
talking live with Christain from Invertigo
so have you ever had that,
the call?
or have you ever made the call and dumped someone
over the phone?

C: No thats not my style
but yes I've definetly had it done to me
my very first crush,
first girlfriend I ended up getting that call
this girl actually started it off

A: What? how could she?

C: Oh..

A: Doesn't she know who you are?

*Christian Laughs*

C: Sounded pretty well executed at the time,
very easy for her but half way through this girl
who shall remain nameless
actually handed it over to her
best friend to actually finish it off
which just added insult to injury

A: Oh look, she just didn't want to break your heart

C: Um, yeah well anyway

A: Let's give some CD's away,
the Backstreet Boys competition for all those Backstreet Boys fans out there

Grace: Pardon

A: You didn't realise?

Grace: No I didn't actually

A: Cool, Christian's going to stay with us
for the rest of the show hopefully aren't you Christian?

C: Well it's up to the security as I said
and the people who run this program
but I've been given the thumbs up
so apparently that means I can stay
for at least half an hour

A: Cool, more of Christian and Invertigo soon
but why don't you introduce the nest song for us

C: Well coming into the countdown this is number 19
"Wheatus" I love this song "Teenage Dirtbag"

*Songs*

A: Aww come on let's kill this Hampster, Andy G would want us to

*Chainsaw*

A: Is he gone?

C: I sadly got a strange ammount of satisfaction out of that sound

A: This is Melbourne's most wanted that was
"Hampster Dance" number 18 write it down for Total Recall
Andy Lou here with Christian from
Invertigo filling in for Andy G

C: Hi guys

A: And that was your sad idea to kill the hampster like that

C: As I said, throughly enjoyed it,
sorry love everything that has been played so far but that one, yep

A: Thats ok

C: Chainsaw, two chainsaws

A: Thats ok, I think Andy G would kill the Hampster too
he'd be very proud of you
but you do strange things so that didn't suprise me
didn't you promise you were going to run down
a street naked at Newcastle?

C: Thanks very much for bringing that one up

A: Why were you going to do that?

C: We were doing all the interviews
and so forth with some really cool radio station
up in Newcastle

A: Not as cool as this one of course

C: Goes without saying, but still there are other radio stations that do exist
but that many times we were supposed to go up there
and see them and do a show
and do an interview and for some reason
it always kept getting cancelled
and this guy said you know
"What date is the album coming out?"
and I've said "It's coming out in April"
and he said "but knowing you it'll be cancelled and put back three months"
I said "No I can absoloutly assure you it's coming out in April
and if it doesn't I'll run down the main street of Newcastle
with just a cap on with 'I love..'
and this guys name " and thats all

A: And so you haven't done it yet?

C: Haven't done it yet, but the problem was that
I got a phone call two hours later from the head record company
saying the album was coming out on the
7th of May and I've just gone "Righto.." so ah.. yeah

A: Looks like you'll be running naked

C: Yeah so people of Newcastle

A: We can see all your maleness,
I'm catching a flight to Newcastle

C: People of Newcastle say in that day, stay at home

A: It's Christian from Invertigo going us live
for Melbourne's most wanted,
call us, ask him a question 9414 1001
we'll be back with more Invertigo goss after this

*Songs*

A: "Craig David - Seven Days"
it's Melbourne's most wanted on TTFM
Andy Lou filling in for Andy G here
with Christian from Invertigo

C: Yeah.. hi

A: Yeah baby you just made it,
what is with you?
you're running to the toilet

C: Yeah yeah yeah..

A: Thats what I normally do
all that water you've been drinking,
what happens on a Monday baby?

C: Monday baby? I meet a girl

A: You've learnt well by Andy G, what happens on a Tuesday?

C: Tuesday, I take that girl for a drink

A: And what can you do on a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday?

C: Yeah baby we make love

A: No what does Andy G call it?

C: Nasty times

A: Say it louder

C: Naaaasty times!

A: Oh.. Christian from Invertigo

C: I can't believe I've just done that

A: We're doing some nasty times
here on Melbourne's most wanted oh goodness,
lots of stuff happening in the UK
also lots of stuff happening on the show
call us 9414 1011 to call yourself, to score yourself a CD

C: Go girl

A: You got me thinking about nasty times,
in UK that british pop band Christian

C: Yep

A: "Hear Say" created by a television program
like we've got here have gone straight to number 1!

C: Yep, I saw it today, um.. huh

A: It sold like how many copies?

C: 540,000 copies in the first week
and apparently a trillion times that this week

A: Thats crazy stuff , let check out what happening in the UK,
it's "Westlife" with "Uptown Girl"
can you believe this song?

C: No I can't believe it, but we're playing it

*Songs*

A: "Soul Descision - Faded" there number 15
write it down for Total Recall
Andy Lou here with the very amazing Christian from Invertigo

C: Wow.. I'm gonna drop by more often Andy

A: Melbourne's most wanted TTFM and co-hosting
live in the studio Invertigo fans,
Christian is here very exciting stuff,
now you were talking before
your mum taught you lots of things in life

C: I'm not going there!

A: Yes we are, cause my mum taught me
the same way, how to make babies
you know the stork

C: Let's just clarify,
ladies and gentlemen I was taught via a book!

A: And it was called "Where did I come from?"

C: "Where did I come from?" yeah

A: And we both got taught you know,
how to make babies by this very same book so thats quite, thats cool

C: Yeah it's um.. you know

A: And the stork brought it in you know

C: I'm looking around trying to find something to say here Andy,
you really kinda got me a bit suprised with that comment,
yeah, very cute little book

A: See but who would think that a rockstar

C: Having said that, I did read the book when I was 2 and a half

A: Did you really, you could read? oh my goodness,
Christian tell us what it's like in the life of a rockstar anyway

C: Well I mean we were talking before about people
sending emails and when you sorta don't answer back straight away some people get sorta testy

A: A bit like the "Eminem" thing?

C: Yeah sort of, but I've been emailing you,
like fan email for um, quite a few months

A: No.. not months

C: And I used to write to you even before email was around..
so yeah how about you tell me

A: Yeah well we get around to it but we get just so many emails don't we?

C: No.. just no this is about you.. 27 emails

A: Maybe you should host the show, you're not nervous at all,
this is Christian from Invertigo live here
on Melbourne's most wanted,
we'll talk more "Eminem" fan email stuff very soon,
and that Backstreet Boys Competition right after this on TTFM

*Songs*

A: "Coldplay - Yellow" Melbourne's most wanted 101.1 TTFM,
Andy Lou filling in for Andy G with our very famous
Invertigo star Christian here filling in for Andy G

C: Geez I've.. are my cheeks constantly red tonight?

A: You are a bit rosy

C: You're making me blush

A: Your hair's gone blonder you're looking good though

C: I just wanna say we were speaking before about the webcam

A: Yeah you can check it out on www.ttfm.com.au

C: I did ask for it to be moved away so I wasn't actually visable

A: Well too late, all of Melbourne can see you now Christian

C: Speaking of Melbourne's most wanted,
one of my best friends Emjay
is actually known around Melbourne most wanted,
he owes money to a lot of book makers
so we spent the afternoon actually..
this is true actually hiding from a few people
so if you're looking at me on the camera now and thinking
"Christian's looking a bit scruffy this afternoon"
there is a bit of a story involved so um.. yeah

A: Someone who definetly could have been a bookmaker
before they were a rockstar, "Coldplay" at number 14 with "Yellow"
I was just saying it's my favourite song
'Chances Are' your song, "Coldplay" and "Matchbox 20"
are my favourite songs,
but you have a favourite song what do you have on your website?

C: Well they were just talking about favourite albums
and all that sort of thing..
one of the things we actually have on the website is
"what kind of stuff do guys like to listen to?" so we've got a page
just for our favourite artists Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye
are right up there with me very smooth very sexy

A: Gee.. we like the same kind of music what does it all mean?

C: What are you doing after the show Andy?

A: Aww.. I'm just gonna play naive, give us the website address

C: Imaginativly named.. www.invertigo.com.au

A: This is "Vitamin C" with "The Itch" at TTFM number 13

*Songs*

A: Yeah, it's Melbourne's most wanted TTFM Andy Lou here filling in for Andy G with..

C: You want me to say my name?

A: Say my name boy!

C: My name's Christian oh yeah,
that was "Case Of The Ex" by "Mya" coming up tonight on the countdown at number 12

A: Yay!! It's Christian from Invertigo,
it's so good that you stayed are you just gonna stay for the rest of the show now?

C: If you guys will be good enough to have me I'd love to stay Andy

A: And you know what, you still haven't told us
what it's like in the life of a rockstar,
you told us that you answer emails
but what else do you do? what do you do when you wake up in the morning?
do you look at the beach?
I mean whats it like being a rockstar?

C: Um.. oh gee Andy.. um..Look I don't know,
we really don't think of ourselves to be completely honest,
I'm not trying be corny but we don't really think about that

A: You've just had two amazing songs "Desenstized" and "Chances Are"

C: But you know there's a lot of time
we're told you know what time to wake up
and we're told, you know you're going to be here
at a certain time or you're waking up
in a different city
so I reckon a rockstar can decide whenever
they want to wake up or what time
they want to be somewhere
and we're not quite at that stage yet

A: And you can back from LA on Saturday
and wasn't it like hours later you were performing at Moonee Valley?

C: Yeah, we got off the plane we had to go to a couple
of meetings in the afternoon and straight,
yeah straight to we did this gig
at Moonee Valley Races on Saturday night which was actually really cool

A: Hi to everyone out there who saw that

C: Yeah it was fantastic and there were people just like everywhere
so it was really great, had a great time
and then straight from there
and out to Ringwood which started at like 2:00 in the morning on Sunday

A: Another gig?

C: But it's really cool I mean,
it's rock and roll and all that sort of thing
I'd rather be doing gigs, gigs, gigs
than sitting around twiddling my thumbs

A: Well a rockstar is busy,
this is a power pick now guys
tell us what you think of this song
and also have your chance to say hi to Christian from Invertigo here co-hosting on..

C: TTFM

*Songs*

A: That was a power pick, Andy Lou here
with our special own co-host
Christian from Invertigo what did you think of that?

C: I actually quite liked that one and
it's a pretty cool video too actually

A: I haven't seen it whats it like?

C: Just a bunch of guys hanging around with no tops on
dancing around in some jungle somewhere
with a whole heap of butterflies hanging around

A: Sounds like my kinda action, well lets go to the phones
do you want to ask the people what they think of this song?
It's 9414 1011 if you want to get through
and tell us what you think of the song

C: And I think we're starting off with Laura you there Laura?

Laura: Yes I am

C: What'd you think of that one?

Laura: I thought it was alright

C: Yeah.. just alright?

Laura: Yeah.. just alright, I've heard better

C: You've heard better

A: 'Chances Are' by Invertigo of course!

C: You're too kind Andy

A: Let's see who else we've got on the phone

C: You there Angela?

Angela: Yes hello

C: How are you?

Angela: Good how are you?

C: Good

Angela: Thats good, I've actually got a question for you Christian

A: Alright

Angela: When do you think you guys will be coming down to Geelong to play?

C: Geelong's actually a place we've been waiting to go to for a long time
but our album coming out May 7th
so we're planning to come down there
and do a huge promotional thing around that time so we can't wait to get down there

Angela: We can't wait to have you

C: Great Angela so we'll see you there

A: The song? You liked it? You didn't like it?

Angela: No I loved it

A: Cool, who else have we got Christian?

C: Nicole is on the line I think Nicole how are you?

Nicole: Good thanks

C: Great What'd you think?

Nicole: I thought it sucked

C: It sucked

A: Cool fine she didn't like it

C: OK are you there Bec?

Bec: Yes I'm here

C: Hello Bec

Bec: Hi, I'm from Perth

A: Perth? Are you listening via the website www.ttfm.com.au ?

Bec: I certainly am

A: Have you seen Christian the spunky man on the web cam?

Bec: No, I couldn't get it to work

A: Aww but he's a spunk thought isn't he Bec?

Bec: Totally!!

A: You got a question for Christian?

Bec: Whats your favourite gig you've played with Invertigo?

C: Favourite gig I've played with Invertigo..
there have been heaps and heaps of gigs
but one of our favourites was probably
a telethon we did over in Perth in October, did I happen to..

Bec: Yeah I acutally was there

C: Oh you were actually there..
I think you were yelling out from the audience
and I came over and said hello to you

Bec: Yes that was me

A: Do you guys actually remember each other?

C: I actually remember Bec,
Bec is the kind of person that once you meet
you will remember for a while, trust me, she's very cool

A: Sounds very promising

C: But we're actually coming over there soon so hopefully get a chance to say hi to you Bec

Bec: 5 days

A: And we've got Sara on the line

Sara: Hi

C: Hi Sara

A: What'd you think of the song?

Sara: I thought it was groovy

A: Cool, few people like it, that was the power pick there
back with more nasty time action

right now continuing the countdown with number 9

*Songs*

A: Melbourne's most wanted TTFM number 8
and we are very lucky, Andy Lou here, we are very lucky
to have Christian from Invertigo here with us tonight
in the studio so if you want to ask him a question
give us a call on 9414 1011 and ask Christian
from Invertigo a question right now number 7

*Songs*

C: Well this song is from a band I know
pretty well this is number 6 Invertigo 'Chances Are'

*Chances Are*

A: Christian, I don't want to talk over this song,
I don't want to talk over the end of it

C: No?

A: I love it! Number 6 'Chances Are' Invertigo,
Andy Lou with Christian live in the studio co-hosting filling in for the G Man
on Melbourne's most wanted Christian,
that is awesome I love that song

C: Thank you

A: And it's been voted for so much here
on Melbourne's most wanted 9414 1011 you can vote for your
favourite song and I saw the filmclip
on the weekend for the very first time, looking very sexy there
in the rain it's very sexy I think cause you're all wet
it's a hot filmclip come in you know it is

C: No we're just told where to stand where to walk, were to look at the camera

A: So you have no say in making the film clip?

C: No we did actually have a bit of a say
cause we feel it's a pretty simple message that we're
trying to get across in this song
so we didn't want to do something that was
really over the top like jumping off PA stacks
with daggy sorta guitars

A: Well it doesn't need a strong film clip cause it's an amazing song

C: Thank you

A: Speaking on the lyrics, the boys from your band wrote the lyrics

C: Yeah

A: Vince and James, "Chances are what you feel is like everyone else"
my idea is that we;re all swimming in the
same bowl of soup, is that right?

C: Yeah a lot of people seem to go off
into their own little world and think they're the only one
experiencing these things difficulties and heartaches
but when you talk to someone you realise
"Hey you're going through something much similar"
what we're trying to say is that
if we all hang in there we're all going to make it through
the difficulties that life keeps putting in front of us

A: That is so true see we're thinking along the same lines here

C: Once again

A: We're going to go to the phones 9414 1011 call us
if you have a question for Christian whose live here in the studio
let's go to line 23 Roslyn

Roslyn: Hi

A: How you going?

Roslyn: I'm ok thanks

A: You got a question for Christian?

Roslyn: Yeah Hi Christian

C: Hi Roslyn how are you?

Roslyn: I'm good thanks

C: Great

Roslyn: Earlier on you said your best gig was in Perth,
whats been your worst gig?

C: There really aren't any worst gigs
and I hate to single anything out but
there was a pretty difficult one in Brisbane
a couple of months ago where all sorta of things happened
my mic kept falling off the the electricity went out
and I fell offstage and all that sort of stuff so
that wasn't the worst gig but it's one
that springs to mind pretty quickly

A: Technical stuff

C: A lot of technical stuff and a lot of falling off stage stuff too

A: Joyce?

Joyce: Yeah hi

C: Hi Joyce how are you?

Joyce: Good Christian I just want to say
your wevsite is really good obviously

A: www.invertigo.com.au

C: Thank you Joyce

Joyce: Whats your opinion on Napster?

C: My opinion on Napster well the boys and myself
are fairly open minded when it comes to Napster
we like to be able to sell a few singles
not because we make any money out of it because
we want people to have our single
and check out the artwork photos and hear all the other songs on the CD
however Napster is a great way for people to hear
our songs we've got heaps of our material in Napster
and people from all over the world check it out on
a daily basis so without Napster we'd never get that exposure,
we're happy to have it

A: Vanessea?

Vanessa: Hi

A: Hi do you have a question for Christian?

Vanessa: I just want to say that 'Chances Are'
is the best song in the whole entire world and that
it helped a friend of mine get through a pretty rough time

C: Well Vanessa that means a great deal to me
and I know it will to the guys as well and that is really really cool
so thank you so much for that

A: We love you, we love you here at Melbourne's
most wanted for saying stuff like that
Vanessa we're going to give you a CD
and everyone's else will have a CD
so stay on the line with Christian here
live at the studio on Melbourne's most wanted

THE HNFM CHAT.

Host Dave_9msn says:
ninemsn together with HNFM presents a live interview with hit band Invertigo.

Host Dave_9msn says:
Invertigo made their debut in June 2000 with their first single, 'Desensitized',
which spent nearly four months in the ARIA top 40 charts.
In December 2000,
Invertigo released their follow up single, 'Chances Are'.
Invertigo's debut album,
Forum is due for release in Australia in mid-2001.

Host Dave_9msn says:
Hi Christian and a big thanks
for joining us tonight.

Invertigo says:
Christian says: It's a pleasure to be here
and i'm looking forward to speaking to everyone.

Host Dave_9msn says:
To start with, how would you describe your music?

Invertigo says:
Christian says: When our album comes out people will see
that there are various styles that are covered on the album....

Invertigo says:
but in general i would say
that it is fairly "poppy" with a rough guitar edge to it.

GypsyZ says:
Christian... what was your first performance and how old were you?

Invertigo says:
Christian says: First performance in public
and seriously i was about 11 and i was the lead role in Grease...

Invertigo says:
I wasn't nervous and really enjoyed
and felt really comfortable on stage in front of people.
And it was at that stage that I knew that performing
to a lot of people was going to be a big part of my life.

Blue says:
How did you all meet up
and decided to start up Invertigo?

Invertigo says:
Christian says: The other 3 members of Invertigo are brothers
so obviously the core of the band was already established.
They had auditioned hundreds of people
for the singers job and they're known for being very fussy
so the audition process was quite gruelling but I really think we clicked
and i wouldn't stay in a band that is this intense
unless i really liked the other 3 members.

Host Dave_9msn says:
Who are the other members of Invertigo?

Christian says:
James, Jerry and Vince Lee.
James and Jerry play guitar and Vince is the drummer.

Cows says:
Does the name Invertigo have any significance for you?

Invertigo says:
Not really. The project was previously called Vertigo
but apparently in America a band called Vertigo already exists.
So we just gave the name a minor alteration.

blocker says:
do you write your own songs
and if so who does it and how do they go about it

Invertigo says:
All of the stuff that we've released and that will
be on our album is all original.
The main writers are James and Vince,
but the 4 of us are all quite involved in the writing process
and putting the songs together....
which we all find very enjoyable.

cudge says:
Christian, what's your favourite of invertigo's songs?

Invertigo says:
To perform live, I like Man Enough
or It's Getting Personal....

Invertigo says:
but i'll always have a soft spot for Desensitized
because it was our first song released and
so naturally there's an attachment with that song.

Rock_Chicks says:
What song best sums up your personality?

Invertigo says:
Do you mean an Invertigo song or any song?.

Host Dave_9msn says:
any song I guess

Invertigo says: Well, i might take one of our songs as an example, Man Enough.
It's basically a song about an ordinary, average guy
who is obviously trying to tell the girl of his dreams
that he's not 6'3 and he's not that good looking,
doesn't have a great deal of money
but just wants her to see him for what he is....
a bit of a boys anthem, i suppose.

HCWAM says:
Are you guys going to do a full concert tour
after the album is released?

Invertigo says: Yes. At the moment, we're sort of doing a couple of shows here and there
in every state as often as we can...
But we probably won't do a national tour
until July when the album comes out.

Host Dave_9msn says:
Can you give us details of any tour
you'll be making in the near future?

Invertigo says:
All the details of any gigs we do anywhere
in Australia are always are listed
on our website, which is www.invertigo.com.au....

Invertigo says:
We will be in Sydney all of next week
and as the album draws nearer
we will be covering the rest of the country as well.

heartfeltnik says:
christian- how do u fight the nerves before a gig?

Invertigo says:
What i have before the gig is a little bit more adrenalin than nerves...
i get nervous when i'm not prepared or not sure what i'm doing.
Whereas before an Invertigo gig,
i'm more looking forward to getting out there and getting stuck into it.

iSmudged says:
What has been your most embarrassing moment so far?

Invertigo says:
At one gig i remember dropping the mic a few times....
all the power going out half way through a song,
falling off the stage and forgetting the lyrics to one song all in the one night....

Invertigo says:
but besides that, it was actually quite a good gig!.

CaTtY says:
hey christian which of the members do u get along most with?

Invertigo says:
It was just a matter of time before someone asked me that
and it is a very interesting question....

Invertigo says:
All 3 of them are very fascinating and interesting in their own particular ways.
And i get along with all of them equally.
However, I suppose Vince and I have had a lot more interesting moments together,
but it's hard to separate my friendships with the 3 of them.

Bec-Perth says:
how long were u guys together before releasing 'desensitised'?

Invertigo says:
We were together for about 2 years...

Invertigo says:
and those 2 years were basically spent writing and recording demos
and it basically took us that long before record companies became interested.

Storm71 says:
Were you ever a Pseudo Echo fan when you were younger?

Invertigo says:
Yes I was.. I had some posters up on my wall and
when I was 10 or 11 used to get my hair cut like James.
So it's kind of funny being in a band
with these guys all these years later.

Rock_Chicks says:
Christian: Describe yourself in 5 words.

Invertigo says:
Ambitious, determined, compassionate, easygoing and interested.

Samantha says:
I am from the USA. when are you guys coming here?

Invertigo says:
We're releasing our first single in the US in July.
We will be there at that time to shoot a video
and do some promos and a couple of shows.

heartfeltnik says:
christian - do u feel intimidated by other artists?
do u think your music resembles your idols?

Invertigo says:
Never intimidated by other artists.
If anything, inspired. We never see music as being a competitive
or intimidating kind of thing, more so an art form.
Being genuine fans of other artists naturally our music would be inspired by
some of our musical heroes. But we think we've got a nice balance
between our influences and ideas that are 100% completely our own.

GypsyZ says:
Christian.. to mp3 or not to mp3? Whats your opinion on the napster drama?

Invertigo says: We're in support of the whole napster and mp3 idea.
We however, can appreciate both sides of the argument
because the fact is music is a big business.
From what i'm told, our songs get downloaded hundreds of times a day from napster
but we think thats great as it gives a lot of people a chance to hear our music.
We do understand though how other bands feel....
that this may threaten their livelihoods.

sparx says:
Have you collaborated with any one yet ...
if so what level ... and what new areas would you like to try?

Invertigo says:
We didn't really collaborate with anyone as far as this album goes,
mainly because we wanted our debut album to contain songs which were 100% from us.
We think that's an important statement to make.
We have been flooded by the types of people who wanted to write and contribute songs to the album.
And it's something we wouldn't rule out in the future.

HCWAM says:
What's the weirdest thing you've seen a fan wear at a gig?

Invertigo says:
We've seen some pretty cool t-shirts and things with the Invertigo vibe,
which was pretty cool and there have been one or two occasions
when one or two naughty fans haven't probably been wearing enough!
But that doesn't happen all that often.

spuddles says:
Have you ever toured with any other music acts
and what experience did you gain from doing that?

Invertigo says:
We've been touring quite a bit recently with Vanessa Amorosi
and we've done a lot of shows with other acts
like Human Nature, Kaylan and Bachelor Girl.
They've all been good to work with but
Vanessa stands out as being extremely hard working.

Tammy says:
hey How have the audience been reacting to your music when you perform live?

Invertigo says:
The audiences that we've played to so far have been just fabulous
given the fact that we are still introducing ourselves to people,
we feel we have been very lucky with the warm responses
that we've got around Australia
but also we go out on stage to entertain and we think that people
have reacted well to our shows...
which are generally action packed.

I_luve says:
How did you guys decide on the name FORUM for your album?

Invertigo says:
We had some weird and wonderful suggestions thrown around
for the album name and the process to choose the album name
and the songs that went on the album
became similar to a forum itself,
so the name forum kept popping up in conversation.
And we felt it was a kind of an easy name to remember....
and given that the album became like a forum,
we felt it was the best thing to call the album.

olio says:
What can we expect from your new CD?

Invertigo says:
The album essentially has a lot of good pop songs
like Desenstized and Chances Are....
but as it gets further into the album,
a more aggresive and edgier side of the band comes through....

Invertigo says:
Lyrically we confront a lot of things which people can really connect with.
Issues about growing up and the difficulties we face in life.
But also some stuff about people have already told us they find quite inspiring....

Invertigo says:
So it's a bit of a journey,
and we can't wait for people to have the chance to hear it.

Christians_Girl says:
How hard is it touring so much?

Invertigo says:
Because we love playing live so much
and we have heaps of fun on stage, it's not hard at all for us....

Invertigo says:
It does get very busy and a bit exhausting but given
that our crowds are so much fun to play to,
i don't think we'll ever find it too difficult.

earthlymel says:
Christian: Which do you prefer, outside gigs or pub gigs?

Invertigo says:
Both have an important place for bands such as ours...

Invertigo says: We get to do a nice amount of both.
Any environment which will give us the chance to
play our songs for people is fine with us.

Host Dave_9msn says:
Our final question..

Gothyc_Rose says:
Christian: Whats is your advice for anyone wanting to get into the industry?

Invertigo says:
The most important when starting out is to enjoy what your'e doing.
Never let it become a chore that you start to resent...

Invertigo says:
Music is all about exploring your creativity and enjoyment.
By all means listen to whatever advice you can get...

Invertigo says:
But don't ever let anyone tell you
that you can't make it.

Host Dave_9msn says:
Unfortunately that's all the time we have.
Again a huge thanks for being with us tonight
and answering our questions.
We wish you all the best in your music career.

Invertigo says:
Thanks for letting me chat with you guys....

Invertigo says:
I've enjoyed your questions
and I hope we'll get the chance to see you all soon...

Invertigo says:
Thanks for your friendship and support.

The girl.com.au Chats (Part 1 & 2)

PART 1

Melbourne-based band Invertigo is the latest pop/rock band to emerge on the rapidly growing Australian music scene. Lead Vocalist Christian Argenti and brothers Jerry (guitar), Vince (drums) and James Leigh (bass/keyboards) are riding high on the success of their impressive debut single 'Desensitized'. With a deal already secured in the U.S. with prestigious Atlantic Records and an album due for release early next year, Invertigo are set to be propelled to International stardom.

In this exclusive interview, GIRL chatted with vocalist Christian about Invertigo's future plans and those high notes!

Firstly, how would you define Invertigo's sound?
Obviously the single, which everyone has heard and the album, are going to be two very different things as far as judging what category it sits in. But I would say that it's pretty accessible pop whether it's the chorus melodies or the strong hooks as 'Desensitized' highlights. Our songs are something that anyone can get into, it doesn't really have a certain demographic that we're aiming it to. The rest of the album gets a little more moodier and aggressive as the album goes on and there are a few tougher, darker moments. But we'd really prefer to leave categorizing our sound up to people who listen to it.

The band name Invertigo is pretty unusual. Does it hold a particular meaning?
To be honest with you, it means absolutely nothing! (laughs) 'Invertigo' is really a word that was a bit of a spin on the whole 'vertigo' thing. When we signed a deal in America recently, the vertigo name was already taken so we just basically tweaked that name a bit. We're not the kind of band that really worries too much about what the band name is going to be. We had to have a name, so we just went with that.

Has your life changed much since joining Invertigo?
Yeah it has but not necessarily in the way that people would expect though. The demands on your time and so forth, is really out of your hands, as far as what your day is going to be like, and what the weekend's looking like. And luckily because the song has done really well and because we're surrounded by very good people, all the time spent is doing really worthwhile things and meeting good people. However, sometimes you look at the week and you see that from Monday to the following Friday, there's literally 16 hours worth of stuff flying all over the place, which can be absolutely daunting! So in that sense, it's definitely been a major change in my life.

When did your interest in music begin?
It began from a very early age. Like the rest of the band, I came from a very musical family. With three older sisters, a brother and a father who were all extremely musical, there were always the living room concerts and shows after dinner. We'd whack something together just after dinner and come out and perform this wonderfully professional half an hour little set in front of the auntie's and uncles. From that point of view, it was something that was always taken fairly seriously and everyone had very different musical influences so in that sense it was always kept fairly open. That is why I think as a band, not only myself, but the other three members were always very open minded to all sorts of musical ideas and influences.

What has been your best gig to date? What has stood out in your mind?
I remember when I was seventeen, one of the first gigs I ever did was a 'Battle of the Bands'. I think we were one of the worst bands of the night, but it was just having that amount of people there in the audience! It was my second gig ever, in front of that kind of crowd who I think wanted blood that night (laughs). The fact that we came off stage and kind of won them over, I think made me realise that this is what I want to do more of for the rest of my life.

I believe you guys were recording recently. Were you working on your album?
We've actually just put the very final touches to the album. So we're really excited about bringing this particular album out because as I mentioned before, 'Desensitized' has been received very warmly, but the rest of the album I think has got a lot more exciting things to it.

When can we expect the release of your album?
We're hoping to release the album in the New Year.

What is the most enjoyable aspect about being involved with Invertigo?
I think the most enjoyable aspect is the fact that by and large when you're in a band and you're expected to perform at this particular level, the people that you get to work with and meet are always on a pretty high level and very professional. So in that sense, it's been a pleasure to meet so many really wonderful, competent and professional people I suppose.

And what is a downside of the industry? I suppose from what I've seen of people working in bands alongside me, is that when you're hot and when you're product is hot, everyone wants to do things for you. Two weeks later though, one or two things happen and you find that you're not so hot anymore, it's those same people that turn their backs on you. It takes a while to know exactly who are friends with you for you or are there because you're doing very well at the moment. So there is definitely a few trust issues but luckily at this point of my existence in the industry, I haven't come across too much of that yet. Another downside is that it is very difficult to maintain a girlfriend due to the work demands on your time.

What inspired the song 'Desensitized'? Vince and myself were speaking about situations that we had recently come out of as far as relationships go. Both of us commented how the girls in our lives at the time, had trust issues with us and were a little standoffish. We agreed that it was a good theme for a song so we sat down with a few ideas and he'd already had a rough demo of it done which I really loved. So we looked at a few words and desensitized was a word that Vince kind of spat out and we thought it was a cool word. It took a while for a few people to get their tongues around it, but that's basically where desensitized came.

Now you hit some pretty high notes in that song! Do you have to psyche yourself up to sing those notes or is that just a natural part of your range?
It's funny because it comes fairly naturally, I mean there are times when you go on TV or you've got to sing those notes at 8am, then sometimes it becomes a bit of a challenge (laughs). As a kid I used to walk around thinking I was pretty cool trying to mimic some of the Motown singers that used to get those really high notes. When we were finalising the chorus for 'Desensitized', we included the notes as more of a surprise element rather than your predictable old chorus. It is fairly natural and it's really not that difficult. Maybe you can have a go at it and see whether it comes just as easily to you...? (laughs)

What was it like working with Charles Fisher who of course has worked with the likes of Savage Garden and the Hoodoo Gurus?
Charles is a man who has always got an idea as to how to try to pull something off. There were a few times where we felt, maybe what we've got in our head isn't achievable because we tried this and tried that and it didn't work out. Charles always had one more idea - at the end of the day, he always seemed to get what we had in our heads, down on paper. Which I think is the sign of someone who is very innovative. As a relationship, working with him was always very harmonious and very effective.

Now what is on the cards for Invertigo in the coming months?
Well 'Desensitized' keeps rolling along, which is great for us because we have a good feeling about that song and it's been a great way to debut. So we're looking to get out there to as many states and cities around Australia, to promote that song and do a few gigs within the next few weeks. Then sometime in October we'll be looking at releasing our second single. We also recently signed a deal with Atlantic records in the States, which is fantastic, so we're looking to get over to the States hopefully in the early part of next year to do a little promo. I think they'll be releasing the whole album over there at the same time. So that is really exciting for us because of the fact that the band is so young and we got that deal before we even released 'Desensitized' here. We've been extremely lucky that we've had such immense interest from overseas especially in the States, so in that sense, there's a lot of exciting stuff coming up.

PART 2

Do you prefer girl's with/without makeup?
It depends - if someone can get it happening without makeup then great!

Now, do you prefer brains or beauty?
Definitely brains.

What is the worst pick-up line you have heard?
Here is 40 cents. Go and call your mum and tell her that you won't be coming home tonight.

So what turns you on?
Someone who laughs at my jokes!

What turns you off?

If I try and engage someone, and crack a few jokes and then they look at me with a weird expression or the "I don't get you face", I must admit that turns me off. Not that my sense of humour is that sophisticated, but it's still a turn off.

Who is your ideal woman?
Someone who is fairly beautiful, has a little class and that I would be proud to stand beside.

Big boobs or big heart?
A big heart.

Are you a boxers or jocks guy?
Jocks!

What was the most memorable moment about your first date?
Well her parents actually paid for it so I just went nuts and ordered everything. I must admit I felt a bit sick afterwards but I knew her really well and I even got a little kiss from her, which is pretty cool for a thirteen year old! (laughs)

Do you hog the remote control?
Of course!

Are you a speedos or board shorts kind of guy?
I must admit I'm a board shorts guy, I think the whole speedos thing is a bit uncool these days! (laughs)

What is under-rated in this world?
Just being able to lie in bed with someone really nice, and spend the day having a little kiss and cuddle and not have to be anywhere.

What is over-rated in this world?

Picking up and having one-night stands, and the following day feeling quite stupid about having done that. That whole thing is really over-rated. I prefer to be home in my own bed alone after the first date.

Do guys like girls in glasses?
Yes I think so.

What is your idea of a romantic date?
First of all, somewhere really open and not too private. Sometimes the private thing indicates that you perhaps don't want to be seen. So I prefer somewhere big where you can have a few drinks, chat away and laugh. Then perhaps go out to a club and dance the night away!

Are girls obsessed with their body image, more so than guys are?
I think that guys are catching up as far as that whole thing goes. So I would say that from my perspective, guys are pretty obsessed too.

Do you believe in love at first sight?
Yes I do.

Are you a cat or a dog lover?
I like both but in general I'd have to say I'm a cat lover.

If you were told you had a minute to live, what would you do?
I'd set the record straight with a few people around me (not that they can do anything about it!)

Who is the bigger flirt? Guys or Girls?
I think girls definitely are because guys don't know how to flirt!

Does vanity exist in males?
Yes, it absolutely exists!

Do you believe in astrology?
Yes I do but it doesn't necessarily mean that I'm interested in it.

Do you believe in fate?
Yes I must admit I do.

Who gossips more? Guys or Girls?
Girls do but once again I think that guys are closing that gap.

How far would you go to win a girl's heart?
I would go the whole way and have attempted to do so in the past but it doesn't always necessarily come up trumps.

Why are many guys so reluctant to say I love you?
I don't think guys have the courage to say it in case the other person doesn't feel the same way back.

Do you like girls who play hard to get?
Yes I do.

If you could bring only three items with you to a deserted island, what would you bring?
Well because I'm always accused of being on my mobile, I'd have to say I'd bring my mobile, a small but well-equipped convenient store because I'm lazy and a nice pair of shades because I'm always guilty of having those on too!

Do girls who have been around the block too many times put guys off?
No not really because I like someone who is fairly worldly and has a little bit of life's experience. As long as I don't have to be constantly told about it, or people coming up to me and telling me stuff, then I don't really mind that, to be honest.

And a question that we girls have always wanted to know the answer to - what do guys talk about in the toilets?
Basically there is the talk of footy and other types of bizarre conversations that go on there. Some of which I can't really repeat but generally downright, simple, dumb conversation!

THE GT.COM CHAT

Outback Boys.

They may come from the "land down under," but their music crosses all international borders.
Meet Invertigo: Australia's answer to a Matchbox20-esque sound and America's inquiry to a fresh beat.
Yet, don't label them another group of wannabe rockstars attempting to wade into the American mainstream:
"I think we're here because we think that our songs have a chance to work here in America,"
states frontman Christian Argenti.
"We wouldn't be here unless we thought there was at least a chance for something positive to happen."

"Chances Are" so far, so good.
Invertigo performed for the first time in the States last month, and were well-received by the audience.
"It was amazing for us to play, after many gigs in Australia,
our first show in America," Christian says.
"Some bands love being locked up in the studio, but we love playing live.
If we're told to get on the road and go on a tour, it would be a dream come true for us."

With their debut album "Forum" hitting the United States market later this fall,
a tour would definitely be an anticipated following.

Already traveling the soundwaves in their native land,
Invertigo is ready to entrance America.
girlything.com invites you into another exclusive...

gt.com: Three-fourths of Invertigo are brothers. How did you find the fourth guy and decide to put a group together?

VINCE: The three of us brothers were in different bands.
We started writing and decided we wanted to start a rock band.
We basically put an advertisement in the newspaper for a lead singer
and Christian came along. And, it all started from there!

gt.com: Where did the alias Invertigo come from?

CHRISTIAN: It doesn't really mean anything exciting.
We thought maybe we'd come up with a story or try to create the definition of Invertigo.
But, in all truth, the three brothers were working under a title called Vertigo.
When we got signed by Atlantic to come to America, there was already a band named Vertigo.
We were told that if we wanted to keep something
with the word vertigo in it, it just has to be tweaked a little bit.
The four of us met the following morning, and all came up with the word Invertigo.

gt.com: Pretend we're walking through the record store and stumble across your debut album, "Forum." Why should we buy it?

CHRISTIAN: Generally, the songs on our album consist of stuff that we would like
to think of as fairly pop and pretty kind of melodies mixed in with backdrops that consist of rock and guitars.
The marriage between our guitar melodies and vocal harmonies make for a really interesting record.
Lyrically, we catch on stuff that has happened in our lives before and stuff that other bands won't necessarily write about.
It's stuff that people find interesting and also that people are able to relate to in their everyday lives.

gt.com: We're convinced! Okay, have you ever used those Australian accents to pick up American girls?

CHRISTIAN: We haven't done it yet.
It's definitely one of our major plans before we leave here! *laughs*
To be completely honest, we haven't had that much time here...the record company has been working us!
But, if it helps...!

gt.com: What has been your most memorable performance so far?

VINCE: We actually did a big outdoor show back home.
There were twenty thousand people there, so it was a big, massive show.
I guess that's been a highlight live show for us!

CHRISTIAN: The four of us were kind of just looking at each other like little boys,
grinning at each other, thinking, "wow!" It was unbelievable!
They only gave us twenty minutes on stage, and we didn't want to get off,
so we tried playing another song.
You don't get to do that often!
Some bands never, ever get to do that.
We had to unfortunately get off stage, but we could have played six sets.
That was pretty unique. We hope to get the chance to do something like that again someday.

gt.com: Survivor II was taped in the outback. Did you ever watch the show?

CHRISTIAN: I never watched it at all.
There are so many of those kind of shows that were hitting Australian television at the time.
We happen to get numb to them after a while!

VINCE: We were in the studio mixing records a few months ago.
It came on, and I couldn't stop watching the show.
I think they knew more about the Outback than we did!

gt.com: What person would make you vote yourself off of Survivor?

CHRISTIAN: I would not want to be on with Vince!

VINCE: I can't be on, because I'd be voted off immediately.

gt.com: The powerful song "Typical" is about a girlfriend who cheats on you with your friends.
Is that based on a real experience?

VINCE: It was kind of loosely based.
I've heard other friends of mine that have had that experience.
What I was trying to get across is that the stereotypical thing would be that the male is a player.
So, we wanted to turn it around and show the female in that spot.
The other thing is that there's the real stigma attached to guys with what I was just saying.
We've been on the wrong end, too...where girls have really, really broken our hearts bigtime.
We all do it; girls to guys just as much.
Kinda wanted to say that it could work both ways, and that it's just as devastating for us.

gt.com: How close to home are the songs you compose?

VINCE: I think lyrically they are very close to home.
We try to take experiences and turn them into songs.

CHRISTIAN: Vince is responsible for writing a lot of the material on the album.
The thing I love about some of these songs is that he is able to capture some of the great moments and the bad moments,
which is what a good writer does to a song.
The album does showcase the less serious side of life.
Songs like "Say You Do" and "Blame it on the Stars" are just really good, old-fashioned pop songs.

gt.com: What track was your favorite to record and perform live?

CHRISTIAN: From the recording side, my favorite recording experience was a song called "If I."
That is, I suppose, probably the slowest, most emotional track.
I think that if there was a ballad on the album, "If I" is it.
For me, that's my favorite song on the album, and I think when people get a chance to hear it, they'll be surprised by it.

gt.com: Did you get to sight-see while in New York City?

VINCE: We did a little bit of shopping...buying fake watches!
But, from what we've seen, we're just very excited to be here.
Trying to sneak in a few hours of sleep and do some more shopping.

gt.com: What do you do when taking a break from music?

VINCE: In general, we don't get much time off at all.
You've got to somehow find time off between what you're doing, whether it's a half hour here or an hour there.
The best things to do is go back to the basics, like spending time with your family, seeing movies, anything to get away from it.
Because, it is quite grueling! But, I am glad I'm in the band with three other guys that I get along with.

gt.com: What are your feelings on the Napster issue?

CHRISTIAN: I think we're able to see both sides of the issue.
Bands like Metallica have been the forerunners to the whole argument against Napster.
We, from an artists point of view, are certainly apt to identify with it.
At the end of the day, it makes sense to approach them as business people.
And, their logic is that they don't want to see that big check die by the fact that certain people
are not buying their music as a result of the successes of Napster.
At the same time, we certainly have seen the album all over Napster.
And, at the beginning, we sort of thought it was interesting.
Then, we had so many people coming up to us, and saying,
"We didn't know anything about the band until we heard it on Napster."
Even people from overseas, here in the United States, who would have never ever have heard our songs.
Now we have a very small fanbase here already that had downloaded our stuff from Napster.
So, we can see both sides of it. I think that it is natural for people around the world to hear music.
So, we're able to appreciate it, as long as it doesn't get to the point where it totally ruins our chance.

gt.com: How about your thoughts on the worldwide boy band hype?

CHRISTIAN: I actually don't have a problem with it at all.
The boy bands that we get back home, like Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync,
we also get other bands like Westlife, and it's so great that they can go out on stage,
dance, and put on such an exciting show.
People say that rock bands should hate boy bands, but we don't at all.
A good band is a good band. I think like any band, if a rock band doesn't cut it,
it doesn't cut it, and if a boy band doesn't cut it, it doesn't cut it.
I think if something's good, it's good with any genre of music.

VINCE: If they write the songs themselves, then I think all of those boy bands
write good songs. The songs are well-crafted. It's not as easy as it seems to be.

gt.com: What do you foresee in the future for Invertigo?

CHRISTIAN: We are very encouraged by the plans that the record company has for us here.
America is something completely different from Australia.
We're still trying to get our heads around the fact that we're even here!
We plan to do some major touring and release our single "Desensitized"
and our album "Forum" and hopefully sell according to the scripts that the fans have for us.
We can never take anything for granted.
We would just like our album to get to as many people as possible!

gt.com: We predict a positive outcome for music's next big thing, Invertigo!

The AOL Chats.

AOL CHAT (March 6th, 2001 - Christian Argenti)

INVERTIGO's lead singer, CHRISTIAN ARGENTI, joined us in the AOL Live auditorium to chat about their hit single 'Chances Are' and what's coming up next for the group.

AuLive1: Hi Christian :) Thanks for joining us tonight.
Christian: Hi everyone - thanks for coming and having a chat. I'm looking forward to answering as many questions as I possibly can.

Question: When is the album coming out and will you be doing any under 18s gigs?
Christian: The album date as it stands now with the record company is May 7th. We're expecting to do some under-age gigs in Sydney in the second half of April leading up to that release.

Question: If you hadn't released two *great* songs, where would you see yourself?
Christian: I would definitely be with the three Leigh brothers still. I can't imagine doing anything else other than being in a band with them. I would imagine the four of us would still be plugging away trying to get our songs out to the public. So we wouldn't have had the success we've had, but we'd still be doing exactly the same thing.

Question: Christian - this is your second web chat this week...how computer literate are you?
Christian: I'm starting to really learn my way around the whole thing - answering emails every day, the boys and myself are very active in organising our own website. So in that sense we're learning more about computers and the Internet every day, but we're still more at home on stage playing music but with all this exciting stuff that's happening we're learning bit by bit every day.

Comment: Christian and the rest, your songs have touched my heart. Great Job Guys!!!!! Lots of kisses from Lollababes!
Christian: That's lovely of you to make that comment. The guys and I really feel quite inspired by the support and friendship that we've got from you guys, and it really does drive us to the best gigs that we can possibly do, and we're hoping that your support will take us all the way to the top.

Question: How did the band meet & form?
Christian: A lot of people will probably be aware that the other three guys are brothers, and so they really wanted to finally have a band of their own, so the only thing they needed was a singer/frontman. So they spent about two or three years looking for people and auditioning people, and after about 6 months of telephone calls and meetings we finally decided that it was right for myself and the three boys to hook up together.

Question: What alcoholic drink best describes you?
Christian: I think something like a straight Southern, because it's able to be enjoyed by rich people and poor people, and isn't too over the top, but still very tasty. lol

Question: Are you for or against Napster?
Christian: As a band, we probably don't have any major stance on it one way or the other. Obviously, we would prefer genuine sales of our work through stores, but at the same time Napster does introduce your music to millions of people around the world, so you have to take the good with the bad.

Question: You're a single guy, so tell us, what do you look for in the perfect woman?
Christian: I think someone who obviously seems to be intelligent and interested in a lot of things, and involved in a lot of things. I get turned off by people who are cynical and whinge and are down on a lot of things. But it's hard to say you have a whole bunch of criteria, it will always come down to the individual.

Question: How do you see Invertigo in the future?
Christian: I think that every band will start off answering this question the same way, but I honestly see us as being the kind of band that's around for a long time, simply because we haven't released gimmicky throwaway pop tunes like some bands that you never hear of again. We have so much good material and a solid live show now, that no matter what happens we will be together and playing for many years to come, and looking forward to what we hope will be a very successful future.

Question: What's Desensitized about? When you wrote it, was it drawn from a personal experience?
Christian: Yes, it was. There had basically been someone in particular that I had been involved with, and just found it such a frustrating thing to be with someone who had lost all trust, and been burnt a few times in her life, and dealing with this person became very difficult. And discussing it with the other guys in the band, we decided that it would be a good idea for a song, because a lot of people seem to know someone very similar to the person we were singing about, so a lot of people could relate to it.

Comment: I'd love to congratulate you on such a fantastic job :) Thanks from all of us!
Christian: Thank you, that's very nice of you to say that! But I think it's very easy for us to do what we're doing when we've got so many people watching and congratulating us. You make our jobs more easy than the things a lot of other people have to do for work. So it's very kind of you to say that.

Question: Favorite Invertigo song that you like to perform on stage?
Christian: That would probably be either 'Slave' or 'What If It's Me'. They're a tad heavier and show off the slightly heavier side to the band's repertoire.

Question: When are you coming to Melbourne???
Christian: There will be some shows in Melbourne at the beginning of April and they will hopefully include under-age shows as well, and over Easter holiday period we'll be hoping to do some under-age shows and in-stores as well.
AuLive1: You'll find all the Invertigo gig details on their website: www.invertigo.com.au.

Question: If you had another choice about your career what would it be and why?
Christian: I would love to still be involved in the entertainment business, whether it be TV or acting, but in all honesty I've never given any thought to not being a singer in a band, because I can't imagine doing anything else. But a scriptwriter or director would be the only other thing that might interest me.

Question: Any new songs comin'?
Christian: We've got a new single coming out which will probably start getting played on radio in about a month. We're obviously still extremely busy with the success of 'Chances Are'. But we haven't decided what the next single will be, it could be one of two songs, we've got to decide that over the next couple of days.

Question: WHERE DID U GET THE NAME INVERTIGO FROM?
Christian: The word doesn't particularly mean anything. The three Leigh brothers had a band called Vertigo, and when I came and joined them they gave it a bit of a tweak, and we changed it to Invertigo... but it doesn't really mean anything!

Question: Christian, you guys played at the North Point Tavern and another venue in North Sydney a few weekends ago, supported by the Cherrypickers, what are your comments on their performance?
Christian: They sounded really good, and hopefully when we get to Sydney we might be able to place (oops, I meant play!) with them again.

Question: Christian, I was wondering if you could tell us a little more about you car...I love Cameros. What engine does it have???
Christian: I've actually got a new car. It's not a Camero! I had to sadly part with the Camero but hopefully I'll get another one in the near future. The new one isn't quite as funky and loud.

Question: Who would you love to collaborate with?
Christian: Someone like U2 I think would be great, if we had some ideas that would be able to mix in with some of theirs I'm sure something really interesting would come out of it.

Question: What do you think of groups like Backstreet Boys & n'sync?
Christian: I quite like both acts. I think the songs are great, they dance and sing really well - especially n*sync. They're really hard-working and extremely successful, so you can only commend them for that. But I really like bands who go out on stage and play instruments too. There's room in my CD collection for all kinds of acts!

Question: Hey Christian, what is your favourite thing about being in a band?
Christian: Sometimes going out on stage in front of even a couple of hundred people, or a few thousand people, and having that loud roar as you go out on stage, and having an hour out in front of people like that, playing songs that you've written, in front of an awesome crowd that's yelling and screaming and there's a wonderful reaction to every song - that's the ultimate way to spend an hour and earn a living. The crowds that we play to make me really love being in the band.

Comment: U ARE THE HOTTEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD!

Question: How do you feel having 2 of your best songs on the one single? Would that increase or decrease profits?
Christian: The way we look at it is that we like to make every release as packed with as much good stuff as possible, and that really gives fans real value. We don't really think about stuff like cutting into profits. It doesn't even cross our minds.

Comment: You have inspired me to live my life as it comes! You make me realise things are meant to happen for a reason :) thanx
Christian: I think that's very well said - we agree with you and are happy for any small part that we've played in you feeling that way.

Question: Do you get nervous when performing?
Christian: No, I don't get nervous. As a band we get pretty pumped before a lot of gigs, simply because we really look forward to playing.

Question: What can we expect from your debut album "Forum"?
Christian: Aside from the songs that people have already heard, there are heaps of other songs, one or two that are slower - more emotional and haunting - some heavier stuff that is a little bit darker and more aggressive, and some more that are obviously very melodic and poppy. But overall we've tried to make this album something of a journey that takes a lot of twists and turns. They're all songs about personal experiences and stuff that we think everyone's going to be able to relate to.

Question: If you guys do go "big", are you emotionally and personally prepared for the downside of fame?
Christian: It's something that we don't spend a great deal of time thinking about, but we have experienced enough heartache and pain already that we feel that we're pretty well grounded to deal with anything that's going to happen, because of what we've already endured over the last three years.

Comment: You're a legend...I hope this gets through finally!

Question: 10 years ago, would you have imagined that 10 years later, you would have released 2 singles?
Christian: Without sounding cocky or arrogant, that has always been my aim - to have a record deal and release some songs. I'd be lying if I said no. I didn't know they'd be songs as popular as these two, but that was always going to be the plan for me.

AuLive1: We've got time for one last question:
Question: Is there an ultimate sound that you want to achieve with Invertigo?
Christian: I think that if you spend too much time trying to shape a sound you start to move away from being spontaneous and just going on the vibe of the song that you've written. So I think that whatever naturally turns you on musically, you should just go with that, and that then becomes your sound. If you spend too much time worrying about 'oh we don't sound like this or that' you don't sound like yourself anymore - you lose your own identity trying to sound like other people.

AuLive1: Thanks for joining us at AOL Live Christian. Say hi to the rest of the guys for us all :) We look forward to catching up with you and the rest of the Invertigo guys again soon :)
Christian: Thanks very much - your questions have been really interesting and enjoyable. On our website - www.invertigo.com.au - we'll be putting on all the info and tour dates for the next couple of months this weekend. The guys and I would love to hear from you all if you'd like to email us. Our website will take you straight through to our email addresses. We look forward to seeing you all soon!

AOL Chat (July 12th, 2001 - Christian Argenti)
INVERTIGO’s lead singer, CHRISTIAN ARGENTI, joined us in the AOL Live auditorium to chat about their debut album ‘Forum’ and plans for the future.

AuLive1: Hi Christian :) Thanks for joining us tonight.
Invertigo: Hello to everyone! Thanks for coming in and I'm looking forward to chatting with you all.
AuLive1: Let's get straight into the questions!

Question: Hey guys, how are you??? I was just wondering how you guys came together???
Invertigo: The other three guys in the band, James, Gerry and Vince, are three brothers, so they've been working on this project for some years. I was lucky enough to become the singer about two and a half years ago.

Question: Christian: Is a big tour of America next on the list? How was the NY experience?
Invertigo: New York was great. We did a gig over there that went really well. At the moment we're concentrating on the release of ‘Forum’ here next week, so if we get to America later on in the year that's great, but for the moment we're definitely happy right here in Australia for the time being.

Question: What's your favourite thing to do on a day off?
Invertigo: I enjoy catching up with friends and family for lunch or a nice dinner, going to the movies, going to the football - as normal things as possible away from the touring and the music.

Question: There's a mass of fans travelling to Melb for the album launch. How does that make you feel?
Invertigo: We're thrilled that people are going to that amount of trouble to come and see the launch, and all we can possibly do in return is give people a wonderful show and wonderful night to thank them for all the support they've shown us in the past few months, and we're privileged to have such wonderful people give us that level of support.

Question: Christian, do you do any songwriting yourself, or are the Leigh brothers the main songwriters in the band?
Invertigo: At this stage, James and Vince are the main writers. They've started to integrate me into the writing process and let me co-write a B-side at the moment called 'Mr Right'. I'll become more and more integrated into that as we go along, but compared to them I'm very inexperienced, so there's heaps of time for me to get more involved in the whole writing thing.

Question: Invertigo, what is going to be your next single?
Invertigo: I think for the time being we have our hands well and truly full with ‘Forum’, but I would say keep your eyes open for 'Man Enough' or 'What If It's Me'.

Question: Are you ever chased down the street by screaming fans?
Invertigo: Not really chased down the street, but we've had some instances where people have been very enthusiastic about pursuing us, but we're not the kind of band to run from fans - we'd be the first to stop and have a chat!

Question: What are Invertigo's plans after the release of ‘Forum’?
Invertigo: We'll continue to tour around Australia as we have been doing for the next couple of months. We are releasing our first single in America at the end of August, then the album, so we imagine there will be just a lot of playing and touring and promotion over the next 6 months.

Question: What is the thing that James uses in the song 'If I'?
Invertigo: It's a thing called an e-bow, it's like an infrared kind of thing which gets this really emotive and trippy tone out of the guitar that you can't get with a normal pick.

Question: Are any of u guyz single??? =)
Invertigo: Yeah, a couple of us are.

Question: So what’s your new album like?
Invertigo: Obviously it contains the singles that people have come to hear on radio so far, as well as heaps of other songs I think people will be surprised by. Songs like 'If I' show the more emotional side of the band and are a little slower. Songs like 'It's Getting Personal' and 'Damage Control' and 'Slave' show the more rock-y and aggressive side of the band. The album shows a lot of twists and turns and I think will surprise a lot of people.

Question: Hi guys!! Just wanna say thanx 4 the music, I love it. Be happy.
Invertigo: Thank you for that, that's very sweet!

Question: I can't wait to see ‘Damage Control’ live. When will it be added to the set?
Invertigo: It's actually being added to the set tonight. We just soundchecked it for the very first time tonight - we're playing at Toukley, on the central coast of NSW. 'Damage Control' will be played live for the very first time tonight, so hopefully you'll get a chance to hear it really soon.

Question: Christian: Do you prefer the more rockier side of Invertigo's sound or the more poppy?
Invertigo: I like both, and that's what I love about being in this band, that we get to explore both sides of the personality of Invertigo, but it's great to take those rockier songs out live on stage and go a bit crazy.

Question: When will you be touring again?
Invertigo: We're kind of touring pretty much non stop at the moment. Right now we're touring NSW, but within the next 8 weeks we will have gotten around to pretty much all of Australia.
AuLive1: Checkout the Invertigo website for tour dates, the latest news and email addresses for all the guys: www.invertigo.com.au

Question: Bar yourselves, what is your fave band???
Invertigo: I like Radiohead, Jamiroquai, Van Halen, KISS, U2, Soundgarden, Queen, just to name a few.

Question: U guyz rock!!!! =) Keep up the great work!!!
Invertigo: Thank you, we will :)

Question: Hi Christian my name’s Charmaine, I just want to say your music is wonderful and I can't wait for the album. When I first heard the single ‘Chances Are’, I was like ‘who sings that?’, thanks for loads of listening pleasure!<
